ACF Fiorentina, commonly referred to as just Fiorentina or Viola, is a professional football club based in Florence, Italy. The club was founded in 1926 by local noble and National Fascist Party member Luigi Ridolfi Vay da Verrazzano.
Fiorentina has spent most of its history playing in the top tier of Italian football and has won two Serie A titles (1955-56 and 1968-69), six Coppa Italia trophies, one Supercoppa Italiana title, and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup trophy.
The team's colors are purple (which earned them their nickname "Viola") with white trimmings. Their home ground is Stadio Artemio Franchi which can hold up to 43,147 spectators.
Throughout the years, many famous players have played for Fiorentina including Gabriel Batistuta, Giancarlo Antognoni , Roberto Baggio , Kurt Hamrin , Enrico Chiesa among others . Despite some setbacks throughout their history such as bankruptcy proceedings that saw them relegated down to Serie C2 at one point; they remain an important part of Italian Football culture today.
