U.S. Sassuolo is a professional football club based in the city of Sassuolo, Italy. The club was founded in 1920 and has since then undergone several name changes before settling on its current name in 1974.
For many years, U.S. Sassuolo played their home games at Stadio Enzo Ricci until they moved to Mapei Stadium-Città del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia, which has been their home ground since 2013.
The team's rise to prominence began when they were promoted to Serie B for the first time during the 2008-09 season after winning Serie C1/A with an impressive record of twenty wins out of thirty-four matches.
In recent years, under coach Eusebio Di Francesco's leadership from June 2012 through January 2017 and Roberto De Zerbi taking over as head coach afterward; US Sassulo gained promotion into Serie A for the first time ever during the 2012-13 season and have remained there ever since while also achieving notable success such as qualifying for European competitions like UEFA Europa League twice (in seasons: '16-'17 & '21-'22).
Overall, U.S. Sassoulo continues to make strides towards becoming one of Italy’s top clubs despite being relatively new compared to some other Italian teams that have existed longer than them but are still struggling today due mainly because they lack proper management or financial backing needed by modern-day football standards
