S.S Lazio is one of the most successful football clubs in Italy, having won numerous domestic and international titles. The club has won two Serie A titles, seven Coppa Italia trophies, four Supercoppa Italiana cups, as well as a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
The Biancocelesti's first major trophy came in 1958 when they lifted the Coppa Italia for the first time. They went on to win it again three more times before their next major triumph - winning their first Serie A title in 1974 under coach Tommaso Maestrelli.
Lazio enjoyed further success during the late '90s and early 2000s with Sven-Goran Eriksson at the helm. During this period, they won another Scudetto (in 2000), two more Coppas Italia (1998-99 & 2003-04) and reached back-to-back finals of both European competitions - losing out to Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup final but beating Real Madrid to lift the UEFA Super Cup.
In recent years, Lazio have remained competitive domestically but are yet to add any silverware since lifting their last Copa Italia trophy back in May of 2019.
The Stadium: Stadio Olimpico
S.S Lazio plays their home matches at the Stadio Olimpico, which is located in Rome and has a seating capacity of 70,634. The stadium was built in 1937 and underwent renovations for the 1960 Summer Olympics as well as the UEFA Euro 1980 tournament. It also hosted the FIFA World Cup final in 1990.
The stadium is shared with Roma, S.S Lazio's crosstown rivals. Despite sharing a stadium, both teams have separate dressing rooms and training facilities. The rivalry between these two clubs adds to the excitement of every match played at this iconic venue.
In addition to hosting football matches, the Stadio Olimpico has also been used for other sporting events such as rugby union games and athletics competitions. It has even hosted concerts by world-renowned artists like U2 and Bruce Springsteen.
Overall, playing at such an impressive venue only adds to S.S Lazio's prestige within Italian football culture while providing fans with an unforgettable experience on match days.
